It is that time of the year for a new Mystery Quilt to begin!

Ready for a new Mystery Quilt with Meadow Mist Designs. I can't wait!!

This will be a my 5th year to follow Cheryl Brickey and her fabulous Mysteries. I have 3 quilt tops from past years to quilt, but piecing the quilts have been a lot of fun. I am ready this year, I have my fabric picked out, my sewing machine ready to start with a fresh needle and lots of bobbins with Aurifil. I will have plenty of sewing time since I sew on my lunch hour. Over the next several months the first Thursday will have the clue to work closer to the completion.

May is for Makers...What a cool way to pursue happiness.

May Is For Makers | LRstitched.com

I read Lindsey's LRStiched blog and this inspired me to work harder on current projects. It also has encouraged me to finally start an Etsy Store to sell my projects. Currently I have 3 items for sale, I have been working on totes. I have a few friends that sell on Etsy. This is a great site to buy fun items as well. It may be a small start and if I do not sell any items, that is ok too! I have learned word of mouth is best. I have been able to sell baby quilts for years this way.

I just want to share my talent and continue to learn and make more fun projects. So this May is for Makers has been a fun way to pursue happiness.

It's March...Yeah! More Fabric, please.

It's March...Yeah! Fabric, please.
The month of February was tough, I placed my self on a fabric diet.
Did I make it, Yes!
When I decided to make a difference in my budget for February, the first change I knew I need to make was shopping. I knew it would be easier if I did not purchase fabric. I missed the Superbowl specials, Valentine deals and the last of the month mark downs. The toughest day was the last. My luck, Leap year. March 29 was a long day. I had several projects started. I have been working on my paper piecing, QAL my Grandaughter's AG Doll sleeping bag and binding.  Now, I have a new QAL Mystery Quilt I am starting. I have gone through my stash and realized, I need more fabric! UGH!!
I am working with http://www.corasquilts.com/quilt-alongs/beguiling/
I have found 4-5 fabric that will work from my stash, but  I still need 3-4 more pieces that will marry up to complete my pre-cutting. So today, I can buy, although I do not have time to shop.
Time will allow for to go purchase some new fabric lines or the pieces to match up.

I have a Blogger crush

I will be following a fun blog series about  pattern writing. I have found a really fun blogger Cheryl Brickey, Meadow Mist Design http://meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/

I have a huge blogger crush on this site. Cheryl is so insightful and inspiring with her designs. I have started one of her quilt patterns and I am ordering another. The Mystery quilt she wrote for 2015 is very ingenuous. So I picked out my colors, I am using Angela Walters- Art Gallery line Athena, dark blues with Norcott's Tuscany line in Gray and Shannon Brinkley's Dryad gold waves.
I have finished My blocks and they are all seen together. This has been a fun quilt to make.   mystery-quilt.html

2015 NYE Mystery Quilt

This Year I designed, wrote then taught a Mystery Quilt on NYE day. I had so much fun with the group I worked with. I love this quilt so much that I have completed a second one. I used 4 charm packs of a design, then 2 charm packs of a solid, with 2 borders- a 2.5" and 4.5". My test quilt was made with Aloha Girl by Fig Tree, a Moda designer. I liked the soft colors with the bold blues and corals. I used a civil war block, Blockade. I replicated it, opposite to build the diamond in the solid color. There is a slanted scrappy square and an hour glass in the center as well. I have decided to make a third quilt as well and reform it back to fabric yardage instead of the precuts. So once again I will dissect the quilt and do the math. Then figure a way to make this quilt less scrappy. I believe I will make the opposite blocks in different colors and make the hour glass in another color as well. I will need to think on this. I will update once I am ready to proceed.

Happy Quilting!!
